Background[]
Using Feudal Germans in MEG[]
The Feudal German list offers a fairly large number of early knights (short spear, dev charge, melee expert) supported by the normal medieval foot (close, short spear, shield wall).
There are a couple of uncommon units available to the Germans that make this a more than usually interesting early medieval list.
Fussknechte - up to 18 Tribal close, melee experts. Points efficient, but vulnerable to impact troops.
Frisian spearmen - Tribal loose, long spear, dev charge, combat shy. A lot of characteristics and an oddity of a troop type. Resistant to cavalry and potentially explosive in the charge phase, but not so good in a drawn out fight.
Allies[]
The Feudal German list was all about the allies, but that is no longer the case, due to now being limited to only a single external ally.
Medieval Frisian or Dithmarschen allies bring a lot more of those Frisian spearmen, and can own any bit of rough ground
Early Medieval Danish allies provide access to a couple of TUGs of Huscarls (superior 2HCC) which are really rather useful
Feudal Polish allies
Early Swiss allies
Feudal Germans as allies[]
Any ally from this list has to contain a unit of spearmen, a unit of crossbowmen and a unit of average knights. This can lead to C&C problems with foot and mounted not really wanting to work together.
